Priorities
“Leadership isn’t about holding a position; it’s about lifting others as we rise together. I am committed to empowering communities, amplifying voices, and creating spaces where everyone belongs. Representation isn’t just an ideal—it’s a necessity”
Park Safety
Working with staff and parks security to ensure the fastest possible incident response times
Supporting increased line of sight in parks with need so spaces are more welcoming
Safe routes to parks so that everyone can enjoy Tacoma’s green spaces regardless of the neighborhood you live in
Preservation and Expansion of Green Spaces
Parks Tacoma is uniquely positioned to not only protect Tacoma’s green space but also expand it
More parks on the South and East sides of the city to align with the equitable vision of the new strategic plan including pocket parks, buffer zones, and interagency projects
Expansion will be important to meet the increased recreation needs of our growing population
Community Connection and Inclusion
My goal is for Parks Tacoma to be the third space of choice for all Tacomans
Focus on inclusivity for all ages, from tots on the trail to senior services to those who need ADA accommodations
Thinking creatively about future projects to redefine what it means to serve people in place
Continuing Beyond the Bell and Club B. Bridging gaps to support working families and students
Climate Resiliency
Protecting and preserving our 2000 acres of green space.
Important to have a fire safety plan in the face of increasingly volatile weather to protect our forests like Point Defiance, Swan Creek, and NW Trek Park.
Think about ways we can work to be more sustainable in the face of climate change.
Equip our community centers to serve as climate resiliency hubs during disasters. In addition to heating and cooling, I would support us offering meals, electricity for charging devices, and a safe space for people to stay connected during emergencies
